ISO help installing Linux for classes/demos

Hey, folks, not to be a total dweeb but I need help installing Linux on some Dell laptops. Clearly, I've got the configuration wrong because I'm getting "no bootable device found" but I'm baffled.

These are machines I plan to use for classes and demos for Chattanooga.Digital to promote Linux and other FOSS.

Might anyone be willing to or know of someone who would help with this?

Thanks!

=============================================================== From: "Greg Laudeman, Ed.D. Via chugalug" ------------------------------------------------------ BTW, what I'd really like to do is set up a program to sell surplus computers at cost with Linux installed. Ideally, find a sponsor to cover the costs so we can give them away free. It would be really cool to teach young people how to do this and have the program pay them a modest amount to do installs and troubleshooting but that's just a vision at this point. This is a first step in that direction. -- Greg Laudeman, Ed.D. *Executive Officer and Principal* Eduity, LLC www.eduity.net greg@eduity.net 706-271-5521

=============================================================== From: Sudo Bash Via chugalug ------------------------------------------------------ Honestly, this is probably your boot priority settings in UEFI. Especially if you're in the pre-install phase, although you would think it would boot previously installed OS, unless it was wiped. Could be a few other things, but that's the most likely based on the limited info you provided... Are you installing via DVD or USB? What are your boot priority settings? You'll want to set the first boot device to what you're trying to boot from, if you're in pre-install phase. If you're in the post-install phase, then I would say probably secure boot or something else is stopping you, but I don't think you're that far yet? 80=3D9D ugalug =3D =3D =3D

When do you get no bootable device found? Attempting to boot an=20 install? On what media? After POST, hit F12 on a Dell for the boot menu. May have to manually=20 select the USB drive, and/or enable booting from USB in the BIOS. Sounds like you have a wiped HDD/SSD and USB booting is disabled, but=20 I'm missing a few details to say for certain.
